The Florida Reef Tract has been experiencing a multi-year, multi-species disease outbreak since September of 2014. Over 60 partners have come together to respond to this disease event, including local Florida Sea Grant agents Ana Zangroniz (Miami-Dade) and Shelly Krueger (Monroe). The agents created a citizen science monitoring training to engage the recreational SCUBA diving community. This presentation discusses the disease event, and different ways that the community can become involved in response.
