Hello REEF Members. In this edition of REEF-in-Brief, we reflect on some of our recent activities, remind you about some great upcoming travel opportunities and let you know about some exciting new ways that REEF programs and data are being used to help protect endangered species. One such example, the Grouper Moon Project, will be presented tomorrow (Wednesday May 20) as part of a full day symposium on marine conservation success stories being held at the National Museum of Natural History in the Sant Ocean Hall. You can hear the symposium live on the web -- check it out and watch Dr. Brice Semmens share the successes that REEF and our collaborators at the Cayman Islands government and Oregon State University have had in conserving Nassau grouper -- http://ocean.si.edu/sant_chair/webcast/

Now’s the time to book your REEF travel. There are several great REEF trips coming up that still have space, and we are looking for you!! These include Bermuda with Ned and Anna DeLoach and local Bermudian REEF member extraordinaire, Judie Clee, as well as Curacao with REEF Board of Trustee member Heather George, and Cozumel with Sheryl Shea. REEF Trips are good for you – you get your dive time, fish time and break time and they are good for REEF – data, quality time with our members and funding support. So do your duty and Take A Dive Vacation That Counts! We hope that you enjoy reading this month's REEF-in-Brief. Keep an eye on your inbox in the coming weeks for an important message from REEF co-founder Paul Humann about our semi-annual fundraising drive.

Best Fishes,
